I restarted my connection many times, restared my PC aswell, I cleared my dns cache, I even reinstalled the game, it still doesnt work. I can play singleplayer, I am connected to EA, my internet is all fine but I just cant get the multiplayer to work. It was the Holy Tree map on on one of NeoThermic's dedicated CoTH servers. Then after that it just disconnects me from the server. The fault occurred with two separate players each time, and they both quit when it happened both times, allowing us to finish the game. The reason is inexplicable, but I did get a crash log, readable here.īefore this happened, I experienced a sync error twice in the same game.
23 of them blew up in this pretty-looking shrapnel-like explosion. army and charged a 60/60 Russian Hussar unit into a seemingly defenseless French Chasseur unit. I am in the middle of a campaign battle at this very moment versus an entrenched A.I. The most recent problem had to deal with the client crashing in the middle of a game. You were rushing grenadiers then, there are no mines in Napoleon. The frustrating part is it's 100% reproducible (as long as I've found a server that causes it it always happens to one specific server) and nobody else seems to be having the same issue. Other people can join the servers, usually without a fuss, but for me the game will crash to the desktop after it's done handshaking and give me no error message as to why it happened. I’ve got visions of developers hooking up at GDC and asking “ Did you talk with Mark from Introversion?” only to be told “ Yeah he was about as useful as a pair of boobs on a fish”.So recently, I've been having issues where certain multiplayer servers cause my Multiwinia client to crash after it's done handshaking with the server. I can’t help these people and that is what frustrates me. Very rarely do I get a response to this and even when I do it is hardly ever specific or directed in a way that I can actually answer. In my more mischievous moments I’m tempted to reply with something like, “ Don’t eat yellow snow”, “ Check your paper supplies before you begin” or “ Put a coversheet on all your TPS reports”, but more often than not I go back and just ask them what exactly they would like to know more about. However, it would be a poor starting point. Even though it is more of an enhancement to Darwinia than a new game, Multiwinia is a worthwhile purchase if you enjoyed Darwinia and were left wanting more with the same theme.

The problem is that I can’t possibly dump all of the experience we have built up into one readable email. Multiwinia is on the right track, as Introversion have already released a patch implementing text chat in the pre-game lobby. I mean, how am I supposed to answer that? It’s not that I’m unwilling to help, or don’t have the time - quite the opposite in fact, I’d love to see more independent studios set up. Those who want more time to vote should PM me to request more time-but otherwise send me your top 8s of 2008-of course being 4 main favourites and 4 honourable mentions. Currently I have received 16 votes and desirably there should be about 25-30 votes for this to work. Introversion has developed games like DEFCON and Darwinia I will open voting up for two weeks to see how many voters we get.

In fact I have my own game idea and I wonder if you had any advice on how to start my own games company?” “ Hey Mark, I really loved DEFCON, Darwinia and the other one and I admire what Introversion has achieved. Perhaps one of the most trying of these is when I get emails that read: There are many fantastic things about my job, but there are also many frustrations.

Now we’ve invited Mark Morris of Introversion to share some of the experience he’s built up over the years and pass on a few lessons to the next generation. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to have been permanent either and Introversion Software is proof that some of that British brilliance remains.
Nowadays the UK isn’t like that and the world of the bedroom game designer has kind of collapsed on itself. I miss the time when the UK was known as the capital of indie game design and when stories of teenage bedroom coders making it rich through ingenuity were commonplace.
